One of the most concerning parts of travel is the less-than-ideal lodging circumstances we sometimes encounter. We’ve been assigned hotel rooms and entered them to find them already occupied (awkward), and we’ve had strangers enter our rooms (terrifying).

Here are some products that can make your hotel stays a little less sketchy. We use these, or ones like these…

Auxiliary door locks:

Who knows who has the master keys to your hotel! Furthermore, the front desk could generate the wrong keys for other flight crew or any other hotel customer. You need to make sure nobody is coming through that door unless you want them to. These are our favorite tools…

Hidden camera detectors:

While crew hotels are less likely to be surveilled than private rentals, we hear of instances all the time where cameras are left in rooms by previous guests and other pervy actors. It depends on your level of paranoia whether you’ll be interested in these.

Blacklights:

Ok these is really disgusting to talk about, but – body fluids and bedbugs… Gross!

It’s rarely apparent how clean a room really is. Hotel staff are really good at cleaning a room just enough to turn it over to the next guest. Blacklights are great for revealing what they left behind. But we’re warning you – you may never look at a hotel room the same again after using these. They are bright and USB rechargeable.
